What steps will reproduce the problem? 1. Boot into Recovery 2. Format /system, /data and /cache 3. Install cm-10-20120911-NIGHTLY-epicmtd.zip and gapps-jb-20120726-signed.zip 3. Reboot the phone 4. Set up your Google account and allow it to sync 5. Access the Play Store 6. The following message is displayed: Error retrieving information from server RPC:AEC:0 What is the expected output? What do you see instead? It is expected that the Play Store is accessed with no issues. An error is displayed instead: Error retrieving information from server RPC:AEC:0 What version of the product are you using? On what operating system? Android version: 4.1.1 Kernel version: 3.0.42gb56e109 Build number: cm_epicmtd-userdebug 4.1.1 JR003L eng.20120900.023808 test-keys Please provide any additional information below. I do not know if it happens every time since I did a fresh install only once, but I suspect not since it hasn't been reported yet. Could be an issue syncing between the Play Store and the phone since it was freshly wiped.
Once the error occurs you can go into Account and delete the Google account you just set up. Then add your Google account again and it should work (at least it did for me).
I'd like to add a step to comment #2. Clear the data and cache for the play store app as well as removing your Google account and signing back in.
There are a few threads on Google that give line by line directions based on the error # you're given.
I have had success clearing the cache for the Play app without having to uninstall it thanks to the last comment that was made. This really saves time! It doesn't happen very often. Not sure what the cause is.
